Belgian Porcelain Belgian porcelain consists pretty much just of Tournai. Some people consider Tournai to be a French maker since their style is that of Sevres and the paste is soft paste but I decided to give it a separate page. It was founded in 1751 by Francois-Joseph Peternick. Their paste and style resembled that of Sevres and Meissen. Tournai was closed in the 1790's but reopened around 1840 to primarily make copies of old Sevres porcelain since there was a very high demand for that. Their jewelled pieces even though considered fakes are of high quality and demand extremely high prices. The factory closed once again in the late 19th century. There is another factory from Brussels but not much is known - I own one of their peices as shown.
