Tournai Puce Scenic Pot & Lid

This is a superb lidded small pot made by Tournai in the 18th century. A fairly early piece by them probably around 1763. Made of soft paste porcelain which has this superb creamy appearance to it which is much icer than hard paste porcelain. The pot is hand painted with puce scene of birds in a landscape surrounding with an obelisk on one side and a bird flying above. The other side of the pot has a floral arrangement to it as well as two small single flowers. The lid has some flowers pained on it. It's a nice looking piece and puce scene like this are very hard to find by them. Nice to have the original lid as well that won't be common. The pot and lid are in great condition - the lid has a flat chip out of the top edge reglued which could be done better but is not terrible. The pot has a hairline across the bottom terminal of the handle and a firing crack to the side of the spout as shown which is glazed over and from when it was made. An extremely rare survivor! The piece is not marked but it was definitely made by them during this period. The pot with the lid in place is 6.25 inches tall, 4.5 inches from handle to belly and 3.5 inches in diameter. These pieces are becoming very hard to find these days! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
