Polychrome Floral Plate #3

This is a superb plate made by Tournai in the 18th century. Made of soft paste porcelain and hand painted with a their best quality flowers in polychrome and a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. The rim has a fluted design quite typical for this maker but also a basket weave design and that combination one does not see often and it is stunning! There is one large floral arrangement in the center as well as four smaller ones along the rim. I think Tournay flowers are among the very best of the porcelain world. They are amazing and the soft paste porcelain and its enamels are just perfect. Very hard to find. The plate is in excellent condition with an area of black spots along the rim from when it was made as shown. Spots on the udnerside rim from the firing process as well. Little bit of wear to the glaze normal to softpaste porcelain but it displays superbly. The piece is not marked underneath except for an incised circular type mark which is fairly normal on Tournay pieces of this period but has the typical green translucency and moons, etc. The plate is 1.125 inches tall and 9.25 inches in diameter.
