Brussels Pot de Creme

This is a rare treat made by a porcelain maker in Etterbeek near Brussels around 1790. Etterbeek was founded in 1787 by Chretien Kuhne who was German and they existed until about 1803 so not very long at all. Quite rare and all the pieces were made in the French style. This pot de creme or pot au jus here is a very nice example of their work and of nice quality. These lidded cups were used for hot chocolate or soup broth. Both pieces are nicely hand painted with flowers all around as well as lots of gilding. Typical handle shape for the period also highlighted with gilding. The set is in great condition with almost no wear at all but there are some firing flaws in the form of tiny black spots and a bit of staining to the isnide of the cup. A nice example and very rare! It displays perfectly. The cup is marked underneath with a connected EB mark in under glaze blue as shown. The cup with the lid in place is 4 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter. The cup itself is 2.375 inches tall. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
