Cobalt & Puce Pot de Creme

This is a great pot de creme (lidded chocolate cup ) or pot au jus made by Tournai in the late 18th century. It is made of soft paste porcelain and was hand painted with a superb puce scene covering most of the center with a nice cobalt blue ground to the top and bottom with some gilding over that. The lid has the same cobalt blue and gold trim and a nice fruit finial with two leaves. The handle has their typical shape and it painted with a bit of blue and gold as well. The lid has a little hole in it for venting steam. This pot and lid are in super condition with some minimal wear only. The puce and blue are a very elegant combination and this is one nice pot de creme! The cup is marked underneath with the gold tower mark and the lid has a blue 28 on the underside. The cup and lid are about 3 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
