Tournai Scenic Custard Cup

This is a lidded cup / pot au jus / pot de creme / hot chocolate / custard cup made by Tournai in the 18th century. It is made of soft paste porcelain and was originally hand painted with a blue udner glaze design quite typical of this maker. Then it was decorated with a superb hand painted scene including three people near a body of water with a ship on it. Gold trim to cover the blue design and a nice fruit finial. I don't know if this was done at the factory but more than likely by a Hausmaler outside the factory I would guess. Very unusual that is for sure but there are some other examples in the Tournai book about this sort of outside painted pieces. The handle has their typical shape and it painted with a bit of gold to cover the original blue design. The lid has a little hole in it for venting steam. This pot and lid are in super condition with some minimal wear to the gilding only. The cup is marked underneath with the gold crossing swords mark with the corsses all around as shown. The cup and lid are about 3.125 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
