Brussels Bird Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a rare treat made by a porcelain maker in Etterbeek near Brussels around 1790. Etterbeek was founded in 1787 by Chretien Kuhne who was German and they existed until about 1803 so not very long at all. The pieces were made in the French style. This cup and saucer here is a very nice example of their work and of superb quality. Both pieces are nicely handpainted with a bird scene as well as some scattered flowers and a brown trim. The set is in great condition with a small missing paint spot on the top rim of the cup from the making and the bottom part of the handle has a crack in it which is a pretty common thing to find on these antique cups. The saucer has a firing crack type flaw on the rim as shown but it's not a crack more of an almost crack that sealed itself suring the firing process. Doesn't take away from the piece at all! The set is marked underneath with their first mark of a connected EB. mark in brown. The cup is 2.625 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
