Chelsea

Chelsea was founded around 1745 but that is not for certain. It was closed for two years from 1758 to 1760 or so but reopened again soon thereafter. After 1770 the production was almost exclusively tableware and no figures were produced anymore. Wiliam Duesbury bought the factory at that time and this is what we call the Chelsea Derby period. The factory was finally closed for good in 1784. Throughout its existence the production was complicated by the porcelain having many manufacturing flaws and problems including pin sized holes, cracks, etc. Their porcelain is extremely beautiful though partly due to it being softpaste. Sadly I only own very few pieces :) Chelsea porcelain porcelain made by Chelsea Chelsea porzellan aus Chelsea plate cup porcelaine de Chelsea porcelana Chelsea porcellana di Chelsea
