Birds, Bugs & Flowers Plate

This is a very nice plate made by Chelsea around 1754. It is made of softpaste porcelain and handpainted with some nice shaded insects (copied from Meissen in the Klinger style), a nice floral arrangement, some tiny leaves to cover up flaws and five superb bird scenes on the rim. The paste has a nice design to it on the rim and the edge has a brown trim. The bird scenes are really nice but I think my favorite are all the bugs and butterflies with the faint shade under them. One beetle is painted over a large flaw in the paste to hide it which was a common practise. The plate is in superb condition with a little bit of wear mostly to the brown trim of the rim, one flower and the caterpillar. A hard to find piece for sure! The piece is marked with the tiny red anchor underneath and it has the three typical spur marks on the back from firing and the moons when you shine a light through it. It is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 8.625 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
