Chelsea Kakiemon Platter

This is a supremely rare platter made by Chelsea around 1750. It is made of softpaste porcelain and handpainted with a Kakiemon design which is rare in itself but the platter is rather large which was not easy to do by any means with softpaste porcelain! The platter has a wavy edge and is handpainted with a flowering plant of some sort in the center and some floral designs and bugs on the rim in red, turquoise, blue, purple and yellow in imitation of Japanese kakiemon porcelain. The rim has a reddish brown trim on it. This piece is extremely well done and amazingly the platter is in pretty much the same condition as the day it was made. No chips, etc but there are some of the typical Chelsea firing issues with the platter having a lot of tiny firing black spots, etc. and some dulling of the design - not sure if it was made this way or just happened over time. This does not really take away from this amazing piece whatsoever! The platter is not marked but it has the typical spur marks on the back from firing and the moons when you shine a light through it. The piece is 1.875 inches tall, 15.5 inches long and 12 inches wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
