Bird Scene Dish

This is a very nice serving dish / platter made by Chelsea around 1760. It is made of soft paste porcelain and hand painted with a superb bird scene in the center as well as four fruit arrangements on the sides with a great basket weave patterns to the paste in between. The edge has their typical brown trim to it.A high quality piece by one of the most colelctable English makers and in great condition. No repairs, chips, etc. but their is a bit of wear which is normal since the soft paste pieces showed it much faster from use than hard paste ones. The glaze has pooled in places but not crazed which is nice. A hard to find piece for sure! The piece is marked with their small anchor as shown underneath and it has the three typical spur marks on the back from firing and the moons when you shine a light through it. The plate is 1.75 inches tall, 10.125 inches wide and 8.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
