Floral Tankard

This is a really nice large tankard made at either Chelsea or Derby around 1770. I tend to lean towards it being made at Chelsea after William Duesbury bought it around 1770. The piece is has a nice barrel shape to it and is hand painted with a superb floral arrangement to the front and back as well as three single flowers and two leaves covering the rest of the areas. Browning trim to the top edge and a nice handle shape. The piece has an old collector's label to the bottom identifying it as Chelsea and the ground down foot does more often occur at this factory than at Derby. Amazingly the mug is in as superb condition which is rare as these are often damaged. There is slight wear to the brown trim, a couple of very minor scratches to the decoration and a very small chip to the foot likely from when it was ground down or even from when it was made and they tried to minimize it by grinding the foot down. Firing flaws near the handle terminals that are under the glaze and don't affect it at all! Either way the piece displays perfectly! The piece is not marked but that is normal. It is 5.25 inches tall and 3.875 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
