Blue Ground Dish

This is a very nice oval dish made by Chelsea around 1760. It is made of softpaste porcelain and handpainted with a classical urn draped in floral garlands in the center, some small scattered flowers throughout the middle and their famous Mazarine blue ground color on the rim with a superb gold design to finish off this elegant dish! Their peices from this period are among the most notable of English porcelain and their mazarine blue was originally an imitation of the even more famous Sevres blue which is even today impossible to copy perfectly. I love the shape which is not common at all either. The dish is in great condition and pretty much perfect from the top but there must have been some shallow outside rim chips which were restored and the color has slightly changed over time. No big deal as it displays perfectly! The piece is marked underneath with the gold anchor and still has some old stickers from previous dealers / auctions on it that I always enjoy. The piece displays the typical moons when you shine a light through it. It is 1.5 inches tall, 7.625 inches deep and 10.25 inches wide.

Price is $1249
