Large Ewer / Pitcher

This is an amazing large ewer / pitcher made by Chelsea around 1754. Really well modeled based on a silver shape this type of pitcher can more often be found made by Meissen or other German factories. A Chelsea one is quite rare. I think is is officially called a rose water ewer and often comes with a basin which I do not have. The piece is made of their famous soft paste porcelain and hand painted with four superb floral arrangements as well as three small flowers and lots of puce trim to the mid section, handle and top edge. One of the most fun pieces of Chelsea I ahve owned over the years! The piece is in as good a condition as you could hope for with just some glaze lines, a few black firing spots and a minor glaze miss or two. All common to soft paste from this period but no chips, repairs or hairlines. The piece is marked with the tiny red anchor underneath as shown and it has the three typical spur marks on the back from firing and the moons when you shine a light through it. It is 8.375 inches tall, 8.375 inches from spout tip to handle and just under 4 inches wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $3999
