Frankenthal The factory at Frankenthal was founded in 1755 when Hannong had to leave Strasbourg because of the restrictions on making porcelain outside the Sevres factory in France. It was taken over by his son in 1759 who sold it to the Elector Carl Theodor in 1762. Hence the CT mark we all know under the Electoral crown. After a fairly short existence it was closed in 1800. Frankenthal porcelain has a large following among collectors today.
