Joseph Adam Hannong Plate #1

This is an early and quite nice floral plate made by Frankenthal in about 1759-62 during the Joseph Adam Hannong period. So about as early as you can get by this factory. The plate has a nice basket weave relief pattern to the rim and is hand painted with a large floral arrangement in the center as well as quite a few smaller single flowers scattered about. Gold trim to the edge. The plate is marked with the rampant lion mark as well as the monogram of the owner in underglaze. Also the usual incised marks as shown. The plate is 9.125 inches in diameter and about an inch tall. It is in good condition for the age without chips or repairs but it has lots of firing flaws in the shape of tiny black firing spots which ahve caused the porcelain in the surrounding areas to discolor a bit and some wear from age mostly in the form of stacking wear and not bad at all. The gold trim to the edge is mostly gone. The flower painting is superb especially the purple tulip! Displays superbly! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
