Early Open Salt Dish #1

This is a superb porcelain open salt dish made by Frankenthal in the 18th century - around 1760 to be more exact. The piece has a really nice quatrefoil shape to it which uses scrolls that turn into little feet, a basket weave relieve design around the top part and off course some superb hand painted flowers. There are two smaller floral arrangements to the outside as well as three single flowers but the best part is the large floral arragangement to the inside with a small single flower filling in the littlebit of space that was left. Gold trim to the top edge and to the scrolls along the bottom. A stunning looking and early example! Frankenthal flowers from this early period are top notch and their porcelain is not easy to find compared to most of the other German makers. The piece is in superb condition with the tiniest of wear to the gilding. It displays perfectly! The dish is marked with the lion mark in under glaze blue underneath as well as the usual incised marks one finds on their wares during this time as shown. The piece is just under 1.625 inches tall, 3.75 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.
