St. Cloud St. Cloud is the second oldest European porcelain maker. It was founded in the 17th century and porcelain was made as early as 1693. It was not hardpaste but softpaste porcelain which has a creamy white appearance and is just superb. The porcelain production began under Henri Trou who left the factory to his son. The early St. Cloud porcelain is heavy and has a slightly irregular looking glaze. In 1766 production stopped which is sad. I do own a few nice pieces showing different yet typical designs.French Porcelain Porcelaine France Franösiches Porzellan Frankreich Cloud |
