Saint Cloud Cane Handle #2

This is a cane handle made by St-Cloud during the first quarter of the 18th century. It is softpaste porcelain and nicely handpainted with the typical underglaze blue decoration with a nice flower on top and the more typical scroll work pattern all around. This cane handle is larger than the other one I own. It is in great condition with some small very tight hairlines going out from the top center likely it was dropped at some point. These are stable and do not distract from the beauty of this fun piece. Some of the glaze is worn from use mostly on the top which makes sense and is normal on these pieces since softpaste glaze wore very easily. It is unmarked which is common at St.Cloud but it was made by them for sure. The piece is 2 inches tall and 1.25 inches in diameter. The hole is about 0.5 inches in diameter but a bit oval. My favorite thing about this piece is that a long time ago some lady has stuffed a string soaked in perfume oil into it and it still smells quite nicely and strongly. Pure perfume oils can last forever basically unless they go ransid which did not happen in this case. A rare little item from one of the best makers from the 18th century! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
