St. Cloud Chinoiserie Box

This is a very rare yellow ground box made by St-Cloud in the 1730's. It is made of a creamy colored softpaste with a colorful Chinoiserie design handpainted on top, all around, the bottom and inside as well. Silver mounts that are held on by little screws are marked with the silversmith marks. They are hard to make out since they are tiny. There seems to be a mark of a fleur de lis with the letters JCC underneath and another mark could be a rabbit but it is impossible to see well. The box is in great condition but the lid part has a fine crack straight across. I had it restored by the best of the best and now it is not visible unless you shine a light through it! A rare example and looks superb. A bit of wear to the design on the bottom from years of moving around. Unmarked except the silver marks which is the norm. The box is 1.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $4999
