Saint Cloud Blue & White Saucer #4

This is a superb saucer made by Saint Cloud during the first quarter of the 18th century. It is made of their famous creamy colored soft paste with an under glaze blue decoration that is really nice. Softpaste porcelain has a charm to it unlike any other porcelain and is a must have for any collector! The saucer has a ribbed design to the paste in a section below the blue decoration and it has a little rim around the center well to keep the cup from moving around much like a trembleuse style saucer. The piece is in perfect condition. It is a great example from this maker and also perfect to learn about soft paste porcelain. It also has a few in the making flaws common to soft paste pieces of this period. It is a marked example which is always a bonus - it has the S.C over T with a tiny cross above it in under glaze blue! The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 4.875 inches in diameter.
