Swiss Porcelain Swiss porcelain is not my strongest field but I do own a few pieces. There are two makers that need to be mentioned - one being Zuerich which was the first to make true porcelain in Switzerland. They made superb figurines which are often unmarked as well as dishes in the French or German taste. Figurines had a resemblance to Ludwigsburg ones as most were made by a modeller that came from there. Zuerich's mark was the letter Z in blue. The second maker of porcelain in Switzerland is Nyon. They started production around 1780 and their influence was primarily from the Paris region of France. The dishes are almost always painted with very simple patterns of rim decoration and small flowers scattered throughout. Both these makers only made it for a few years until succumbing to the competition of the larger makers in Germany and France. Thus there are very few pieces around and it is highly collectable.
