Nyon Puce Cornflower Teabowl & Saucer

This is a nice handleless cup and saucer made by Nyon around 1780. Both the teabowl and saucer are hand painted with lots of little cornflowers in puce with their green leaves. This design is quite typical for Nyon. It looks really nice and Cornflowers were very popular during this period and I think were a favorite of Marie Antoinette which propably helped popularize them. The set is marked underneath with the under glaze blue fish mark as shown. They are in great condition with a some wear to the green leaves in the center of the saucer from age. They display perfectly! Typical smokey foot ring color which is a hallmark of this maker. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
