Nyon Teapot

This is a teapot made by Nyon around 1780. It is modeled in the typical style of the period and left in the white possibly because of a firing flaw. Very cute little piece with a superb floral finial and a branch handle. The white of the Nyon porcelain is not quite as white as that of Meissen but still very nice. The pot is marked underneath with the underglaze blue fish mark as shown and is in great condition with a firing crack where the top of the handle meets the body but it is only on one side and thus if you turn it the other way it looks perfect. The lid has two chips to the leaf and a little bit of work done to it but I am not sure if that was during the making and this was deemed a second along with the rest of the set and sold that way since all the pieces seem to have something wrong with them originally. Things like that happened often during the firing of the pieces. The teapot is 4.25 inches tall, 5.375 inches from spout to handle and has a diameter of 3 inches.
