Zurich Bagpipe Player

This is a rare miniature figurine made in Zürich about 1770. Likely from the Cris de Paris series, this bagpipe player is superbly modeled and hand painted. A fun piece with a typical base and a look similar to Ludwigsburg pieces but distintly Zurich. The factory at Kilchberg Schooren near Zurich was founded in 1763 and made softpaste porcelain which had a creamy white appearance at first but in 1765 they already started making hard paste porcelain mostly. The piece is in great condition with the top part of the instrument chipped off, a tiny chip to the hat rim and a worn spot on the hat. Glaze missing around the base edge and some tiny chips but that is from the making! All in all in superb shape! The figure is 3.5 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 1.375 inches. It is marked underneath with a faint Z mark in blue as well as their usual impressed marks as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
