19th Century Nymphenburg In 1797 Melchior came from Frankenthal to the Nymphenburg factory and after Frankenthal closed some more of the workers from there followed. Melchior made some superb pieces in the early 19th century. After about 1820 not much new was made at Nymphenburg and original pieces from this period are very rare. The factory was state owned until about 1862 when it was privatized. In 1888 Albert Baeuml became the director who started collecting the 18th century pieces and reproducing them once again which brought Nymphenburg porcelain new success.
