Teacaddy

This is a tea jar or tea caddy made by Caughley in the end of the 18th century. It is decorated in underglaze blue with the temple pattern which is really very nice on a teajar as it goes all around and changes whichever way you look at it. It also has a nice gold trim and the shape isn't just round but has indentations all around. The piece is in great condition with a bit of wear to the gilding, a flat glaze chip to the top edge of the lid and a chip in the same spot underneath the edge. Also a small chip to the top rim of the jar. The piece is unmarked but that's not totally unusual. The lidded jar is 4.5 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter.
