Spittoon

This is hard to find spittoon made by Meissen in the 18th century. It is decorated with a really nice floral design in under glaze blue all around including a larger floral arrangement to one side, two smaller ones on the other and a single flower to fill in some space plus three more floral designs to the outside top rim, a double blue line between the main body and top part, a single blue line around the bottom and a fancy trim to the top edge as shown. A really fun piece to look at if you can get over the purpose of this piece a little bit :) The piece has a typical and nice shape to it. The larger top bowl with the central opening going into the smaller bottom bowl part like a funnel. The piece is marked underneath with one of their less common workman type marks as shown in under glaze blue. The piece is 4.25 inches tall with a top diameter of 5 inches. The spittoon is in great condition with some wear to the glaze of the white area on the inside and a layer of missing porcelain around the outside as shown. There was likely a flaw to the paste in that spot and it affected it during the firing porcess and came off later but the inside is not affected nor are there any cracks, etc. from that spot. It's not obvious when on display either and looks superb! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
