Vase w/ Sandhill Cranes

This is a superb vase made by Worcester in the late 19th century around 1893. The vase is nicely modeled with dragon head terminals to the handles, a shot enamel green ground and a superb scene to the front of two Sandhill cranes in front of some branches with cherry blossoms on them. Raised white enamels to highlight the birds and blossoms. The back side has some more branches with cherry blossoms on them. Lots of raised designs highlighted with gilding to the top and bottom of the vase. Cherry blsosoms always remind me of Japan somehow and the Sandhill cranes do visit there once in a while so that fits. They are more common in the US though and associated with good luck by Native American tribes. The vase is in superb condition with two or three minor scratches to the green ground. It displays perfectly Sadly unsigned but has the same number 16 or 91 under it as my vase signed by Ernest Phillips so he might have painted this piece as well! A superb vase with a rare and stunning decoration! The piece is about 8.875 inches tall, 5.625 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The piece is marked with the puce Worcester mark with ENGLAND under it but it is smudged and I cannot see the date code. It does have a registration number for this period under it as shown as well as the shape number 1684 and the artist mark 16 or 91 as mentioned already. Really a superb specimen for this period!
