Earl of Dalhousie Cup & Saucer

This is a superb fluted cup and saucer made by Worcester around 1770. This is a set with a decoration known from a service made for the Earl of Dalhousie. Both pieces are is handpainted with a superb polychrome scene including trees and a building as well as some water and a nice sky. The scenes are surrounded by a raised turquoise trim with some fancy gilding on the saucer. The saucer and outside of the cup have some great fruit arrangements painted on them as well as those amazing insects I love so much on Worcester pieces. The nicely shaped edge has a cobalt blue trim with lots of fancy gilding over it. All in all a stunning set and one of the nicest they made during this period! The quality of the painting is top notch. The cup and saucer are both in great condition with some wear mostly to the saucer and gold trim on the edges. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.375 inches. The saucer is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 5.25 inches. Each piece is marked with their underglaze blue crescent mark as shown.
