Polychrome Ruin Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a rare cup and saucer made by Worcester in around 1765. Both are decorated with a black print that was hand colored in as well as a bit of gold highlights and gold trim to the edges. This type of decoration was a highly unusual practise at Worcester! There is a large ruinscene in the center of the saucer and one on one side of the cup with a regular buidling scene on the other side of the cup. The set is in superb condition with some very minor wear to the gold trim, there is a spot of stray green paint on the side of the handle and the footrings have some chips some of which are glazed over and none are anythign major. The saucer is marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark as well as a number 6 while the cup is umarked. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 5 inches in diameter. The cup is 2.625 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
