Damaged Basket

This is still a very nice basket made by Worcester in the 18th century. I think it was meant to hold chestnuts but I am not 100% on that. A really nice version with the solid walls with the relief decoration to the outside including puce and yellow flowers in hexagonal windows, The inside has a nice puce trim all around the outside edge of the bottom. Each side of the basket would have had a nice branch design handle to it but one is sadly lacking while the other has a hairline crack to one side. The handle is quite delicate and nicer than some others I ahve seen on this type of basket. The terminals of the handle have some superb leaves and flowers on it that are amazing in color and detail Amazingly only two of the flowers are missing and the rest are in much better shape than I would have expected with only two having a petal chipped off and the rest just some very minor edge chipping. The basket itself has one inside rim chip along the top edge and a small one to the bottom edge. It needs a good cleaning - it was filthy when I got it and I already did a quick cleaning but it needs some more work. The basket is unmarked underneath except for an incised number 17 which is not unusual at all. It is 3 inches tall, 7.25 inches wide (would have been wider if the other handle was still there) and 5.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
