Worcester/Liverpool Cup

This is an early cup and saucer made by Worcester around 1770. Both pieces are decorated with an underglaze blue pattern and then with an over glaze polychrome pattern in between. The porcelain blanc with the blue decoration was definitely made at Worcester but the polychrome addition was done somewhere else. Worcester is known to have sold this design in just blue and white and the extra decor could ahve been done by James Giles or one of the Liverpool makers. Either way and interesting and nice example of the period. The polychrome flowers have three different designs to them and the red trim is cute. The cup and saucer are both in perfect condition with some black kiln dust that one often finds on refired pieces but this is mainly on the underside of both pieces. The cup is 1.625 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.875 inches. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.625 inches. Each piece is marked with their square fret mark underneath in under glaze blue as shown with a blue ring around it. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
