Two Quail Pattern Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Worcester in the 18th century. An unusual shape with an unusual mark - it was a must have for me :) Both piece are hand painted with a version of the two quails pattern with the red and blue quail next to some plum blossoms in red, blue and green in imitation of Japanese porcelain in the Kakiemon style. The colors and design are stunning. I do love the two quail pattern anyway and have examples by quite a few makers by now but this one here is quite nice! I love the shape of the cup especially and the design is just superb with lots of attention to details like the tiny flowers to the inside of the cup. Brownish ring as trim to the inside of the cup and around the edge of the saucer with the same color used to pain the crescent moon mark on the underside of both pieces. I had not seen anything like this before but found another almost identical example in the V&A museum which also has an odd color mark. The set is in superb condition with just a little wear to the saucer where the cup would sit. It displays perfectly! The cup is 2.625 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.625 inches. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of just under 5 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
