Cress Dish Underplate

This is a rare underplate for a Cress dish made by Worcester around 1770. It is decorated with a blue and white pattern called the pinecone pattern with a nice rim design and the center having a large blue and white design including what looks to be pine cones , an open peony between the two pinecones and a pomegranate as well as some smaller flowers and leaves. Rare to find this type of plate - all it is missing is the strainer. Originally these used to be called strawberry or berry strainers but nowadays they are called Cress dishes. Nice rim shape as well! The piece is in great condition with just some use marks to the clear glaze only visible when held at the right angle to the light! It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crescent mark as shown. The plate is 1 inch tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
