Fruit Scene Mocha Cup & Saucer

This is a superb demitasse / mocha or esperesso coffee cup and saucer set made by Royal Worcester in the 20th century - 1923 to be exact if I read the date code correctly. The top of the saucer and inside of the cup is hand painted with their famous fruit still life type design. The center of the saucer and outside of the cup is fully gilded. A really nice look and it remains popular with colelctors even today! Both pieces are signed by the artist - Everett for the saucer and Ricketts for the cup. William Ricketts (1862-1939) was one of the first of the classic 'Painted Fruit' artists at Royal Worcester. Hilda Everett usually did not paint fruit but only called upon to paint fruit when the department was overrun with orders, and even then, she was supposed to sign with a pseudonym. Obviously she wanted to show off that as a woman she was just as capable as the men :) Makes this set a bit more special! The cup and saucer are in great condition with some very minor use marks to the gilding, some crazing to the white on the underside of the saucer (a normal issue) and a tiny chip to the foot ring of the cup as shown which does not impact it when on displays and the set displays perfectly! Both are marked with the puce Worcester mark underneath as shown with a * and dots as the date code. The cup is just under 1.365 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.375 inches. The saucer is 0.5 inches tall with a diameter of 3.75 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
