Blue Ground Fruit Design Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Worcester in the 18th century. The set is hand painted with four panels of fruit arrangements on white ground with another panel in the center of th saucer and a fruit design to the bottom inside of the cup. The rest of the pieces having a nice blue ground to them that is a bit mottled and a fancy gold trim all over that which reminds me of spider webs. Fancy gilding around each fruit panel and dentil gold trim to the edges. Handle to the cup with a gold design to it as well. A very unusual and elegant set. The fruit remind of of James Giles painted pieces but could also be the spotted fruit painter. The cup & saucer are in superb condition with with some wear to the dentil gilding of the cup edge. A firing crack to the center of the saucer from when it was made and glazed over. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 5.25 inches. The cup is 2.125 inches tall with a diameter of 3.375 inches. Both are marked with their crescent moon mark in under glaze blue as shown which is nice as many of these sets are unmarked.
