Raised Enamel Butterfly Potpourri Vase #1

This is an amazing potpourri vase with tis lid made by Worcester during the Grainger period of the late 19th century. The egg shaped main body of the vase sits on three feet that sit on a clover shaped base. The top of the vase has small oval openings all around surrounded by some nice gold trim. The main body as well as the lid and base have a superb cobalt blue ground color to it, the feet each have a mask / face design to the top and a scroll to the bottom with lots of gilding to it. The lid finial is in the shape of an acorn and both the feet and the finial ahve an off white ground color to it. The best part however is the decoration around the main body which consists of raised enameles kind of like pate sur pate or Limoges enamel jsut thicker. There are grasses in white and three colorful butterflies in light blue, pink, white and orange with raised gold highlights. A stunning look and not something one sees too often. Someone really nailed it with the modelling and design on this piece - just stunning! The vase is in perfect condition with just a touch of very minor wear. The underside of the base is marked as shown with the number 1 / 776 in pruple. The entire vase is 7.875 inches tall with a diameter of about 3 inches around the center.
