Early Pine Cone Basket

This is a superb blue and white chestnut basket made by Worcester around 1760. A nice version that is earlier than most one comes across! The piece is decorated with the pine cone pattern in under glaze blue and has reticulated sides in a lattice pattern with applied flowers on the intersections outside. A rope twist handle to either side with the terminals having molded flowers and leaves to them down the entire side not like later version just around the ends. Blue design to the inside of the sides as well. A really nice example and in great condition! One berry or flower bud is missing and a small chip or two to the petals but nothing that takes away from the piece at all. Couple of minor hairlines to the inside near the bottom and a firing crack or two but all original to the making. The basket is marked with the early script W mark as shown which is always a nice touch! The piece is about 3.625 inches tall, 8.25 inches wide and 7.75 inches deep.
