Chamberpot

This is a really rare piece that one should not use as a giant coffee cup made by Sevres during the 18th century in 1767. It is actually a chamberpot and it is hand painted with three large floral arrangements as well as three smaller flowers and a nice blue and gold trim. Nice handle to one side highlighted with blue and gold. The gold is their famous honey gilding - nice and thick and the enamels are superb on the flowers. Sevres softpaste is among the best porcelain out there! It just has a stunning warmth to it that is hard to describe but very different from hardpaste. This piece was sold at some point in the past by the well known Art dealer Adrian Sassoon who is an expert on this subject. The piece is marked underneath with the interlaced L mark with the date letter O in it as well as a comet as the painter's mark which has not been identified as far as I know. It also has the little hole from the firing process typical of Sevres. The pot is in superb condition with some minor wear common to soft paste pieces and the inside bottom has lost all its galze likely from years of use due to the Ammonia in old urine and cleaning as well. It is an extremely rare survivor and a great conversation starter at your next party :) It displays perfectly. The piece is 4.75 inches tall and 6.75 inches in diameter with the handle sticking out another 2 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
