Nice Design Softpaste Cup & Saucer

This is a cute cup and saucer set made by Sevres in 1786. I think this shape is called Tasse à fleur d'oranger et sa soucoupe . Both pieces are made of soft paste porcelain and are hand painted with alternating ovals of roses and a flower bouquet surrounded by a gold ring or a floral garland and gold ring. In between the space is filled with gold and pink flowers. A blue ring with gold dots around top and bottom of the design. The saucer has a nice central design of a rose with blue and gold deign rings and a little leaf design finishing it off. A superb cup & saucer! The cup has a handle to one side with some gold trim to it. They are both marked underneath in blue with the interlaced L mark with the date ltter ii in the center for 1786 as well as the painter's mark for Fontaine (J.) who painted for Sevres for a long time - 1752 until 1807. They both have the typical incised marks as well which are hard to see and the saucer has the little hole in the foot ring from the firing process. The foot ring was never ground down. Small flaw to the foot ring of the saucer from when it was made by the look of it. The set is in great condition with some wear to the gilding mainly to the top edge of the saucer a shown. They both display superbly. A nice looking set! The cup is 1.75 inches tall and just over 3 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 4.75 inches in diameter.
