Vincennes / Sevres Sleeping Child Biscuit Figurine

This is a superb figurine made by either Vincennes or Sevres in the mid 18th century. It is likely from a group of child figurines modeled after the Flemish sculptor Francois Duquesnoy (aka Le Flamand) that are entitled 'Les Enfants Francois'. The piece is made from unglazed or biscuit porcelain and is of a young child sleeping peacefully. Superbly modeled and anatomically correct which is a bit unusual as most were hidden with a well placed cloth or leaf. A very rare and decorative figurine. The figurine displays very well with some normal firing issues from this period in the shape of minor firing cracks and specs as shown. The base has a large firing crack to the udnerside and side of the center base as shown and a chip to the side of the base under the child's head and the back right corner is missing. Couple of minor chips to the base as well but the figure itself is in great shape! The figure is unmarked which is typical of Vincennes / early Sevres figures during this time period. It is 2.25 inches tall, 5.625 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep. Quite heavy since it is a solid piece with a flat underside. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
