Jewelled Portrait Teapot

This is an amazing teapot with its original lid made by Sevres in the 18th century. It is made of soft paste porcelain and has that very nice creamy white paste that collectors love so much. The piece was decorated in the early 19th century with Limoges Jewels - enamel colors set on gold backing on that famous dark cobalt blue background with lots of gold highlights painted in between. Also a superb portrait of a lady on the front and back side - likely two of the famous ladies of the day. The handle and spout have an intricate gold design to them. The quality of the decoration is superb and the jewels are stunning! I love these enamel pieces on real gold foil applied all over on these types of pieces! The tea pot is in great condition with two of the turquoise jewels around one of the portraits damaged as shown and one of the large red jewels next to that missing. There are three tiny crack marks in the gilding near the top rim but there is no underlying damage to the porcelain so not sure what happened there. The tiniest (and I mean that) of rough spots to the tip of the spout. All in all as nice as you will get and it displays perfectly! The pot is marked with the interlaced double L mark in blue underneath as well as some sort of mark incised into the paste I tried to highlight with a light shining through the pot. Looks like Fire 61 or something along those lines. The piece is 4 inches tall including the lid, 5.75 inches from spout tip to handle and 3.25 inches wide.
