Honeycomb Reticulated Sugar Dish

This is a superb lidded sugar dish made by Sevres in 1878. The main body as well as the lid are double walled with the outside wall being reticulated with some nice gold trim. The handles are imitating bamboo which is stunning. The reticulation reminds one of honeycombs and is extremely fine and well done. Both the main body as well as the lid are in perfect condition which is amazing given the extremely fragile nature of this design and the age. The piece with the lid in place is 4.5 inches tall and 4.25 inches in diameter with the handles sticking out about 0.875 inches from either side. The dish is marked underneath with the green S.78. mark in an oval, the circular gilder's mark in red Dore a Sevres with the year mark 78, the usual incised letters and numbers as is typical for Sevres of this period and a gilder's mark M. as shown.
