Goering Plate

This is a plate made by Sevres in 1943 and given to Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring - one of the most evil men to have ever lived. It was recovered after the war in Berchtesgaden a town that many of the high ranking Nazis had houses in during the Second World War and which was bombed and destroyed in the very end of WWII . The plate comes from a Service given to Goering by the factory for his 50th birthday. Goering was the second most powerful man of the Nazis and was responsible for creating the Gestapo and was commander of the Luftwaffe. He committed suicide the day before he was to be hanged for his war crimes. So a nice plate with lots of evil history attached to it. Good to keep these things in mind in todays day and age so we don't repeat these things! The plate is really nice in terms of artistry - it has his coat of arms in gold in the center with the rest of the well having a light yellow ground color. The rim has a green ground color with gold oak branches all around including their leaves and acorns but the best part are the three panels with hand painted scene in sepia tones of foxes doing different things. Really cute. Some more gold trim finishes this plate nicely. The plate is in perfect condition! It is marked extensively to the under side as shown including the green Sevres mark for 1943, a gilder's mark, the usual incised marks as well as the golden iron cross and the words Dem Reichsmarschall des Grossdeutschen Reiches Hermann Goring zu seinem Fuenfzigsten Geburtstag 12 Januar 1943. The plate is 1 inch tall and 7.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
