Temple Pattern Teapot

This is a teapot and its lid made by Caughley in the end of the 18th century. Both pieces are decorated in underglaze blue with the temple pattern as well as some added gilding. Nice handle shape to the pot. The tea pot and lid in great condition with a bit of wear to the gilding, the chips to the underside edge of the lid which are not visible when it is in place, some minor roughness to the spout edge and an odd round flaw to the side of the spout which is likely from the making and got stained from use. The piece is marked with the blue S mark as shown. It is 5.75 inches tall including the lid, 8,5 inches from handle to spout and 5 inches in diameter.
