27 Piece Limoges Coffee & Tea Set

This is a super 27 piece coffee and tea set most likely made by one of the Limoges makers around 1830. It is very well modeled and painted with an oak leaf design including acorns. The gold acorns are so well done they look real but are hard to show in pictures. Nice gold trim as well. There are 10 cups and saucers. The cups are sitting on three claw feet that are gilded and have a handle that comes out of an eagle head's mouth. The handle is also gilded. Also, there is a gold star design to the bottom inside of each cup. Each cup is 2.5 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter with small differences. The saucers are also nicely decorated and have the same star design in the well that the cups have on the inside bottom. They are 1 inch tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. There is one tall pot with a lid. It has a serpent handle and a facial relief spout. The large pot is 10.75 inches tall and 5.5 inches in diameter. A matching smaller pot with lid that is 8.75 inches tall and 4.5 inches in diameter. A sugar pot with a lid that is sitting on three claw feet again and is 5.5 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter. And lastly a creamer that is 6.75 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter. As for most Paris pieces of this period they are only marked on some pieces with incised letters or numbers. The set is in good condition. There is a very tiny amount of gold wear to some pieces but very minor. All the major pieces are pretty much perfect with a tiny bit of staining to the sugar pot inside, and a hairline to the smaller lidded pots handle but at the middle of the joint to the pot itself and does not infuence the stability of the piece itself. Now to the saucers. There are ten and they are pretty much perfect as well with some dark staining to mostly the footring and on two also a bit more on the outside upper rim edge. Of the ten cups six are pretty much perfect with a tiny amount of coffee colored staining to the inside of two of them. Of the other four one has a leg reglued, one has a leg reglued and light staining in the bottom of the cup, one has a small inside rim chip and the last one has a small outside rim chip with associated hairline as well as some dark staining to the inside. The set displays superbly together and it is rare to find such a complete set from such an early date. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
