Bough Pot

This is a superb bough or bulb pot made by one of the Paris makers around 1820. It is nicely handpainted on all 12 sides with long floral arrangements on a light yellow ground color with gilding in between the panels and around the top and bottom of the piece. Each side has a sort of handle in the shape of an old man's head - reminds me of Socrates but that's probably just me :) The top of the main body has a reticulated secetion and the lit has holes in it for the flowers to grow out of. The lids has the same ground color and smaller floral arrangements on it. The piece sits on four lion claws as its feet which is typical of the period and looks stunning! The flower pot is not marked underneath but that is common for Paris pieces of this time period. The piece including its lid is 8 inches tall and 6.75 inches in diameter so fairly large! It is in great condition and displays perfectly. There is a bit of gold rubbing normal to Paris porcelain but it is fairly minor and there is a small chip to the underside of the top reticulated rim and a short hairline to a piece of the very edge of the rim but it is hard (almost impossible) Please email me for more information or other pictures.
