Amazing Large Scenic Vase

This is a really nice and large empire period vase / urn made by one of the Paris area makers in the early 19th century. Likely by one of the better makers like Darte Frères , Dagoty or even Nast . It is only marked with an incised number 2 so that does not help but the quality is top notch. Very much in the Sevres style of the period. The vase has a typical shape to it but instead of the more common boring handles it has a winged lady to either side with lots of details to them and fully gilded. These types of handles are known as Herm / Caryatid where the lady on top transitions into a column on the bottom. The handles are stunning! The front of the vase has a large landscape scene including a small river, a building surrounded by a fence with two people in front of it, mountains in the background and off course lots of greenery and rocks, etc. to make it a superb landscape scene. The quality of the painting is very good . The scene is surrouneded by a ncie gold trim some of which is tooled. The neck area, base and backsdei are all hand painted with a design that is quite typical for this period and reminds me of Gothic designs. All done on a light orange ground color. Lots of details and different colors. The rest of the vase has a lot of solid gold trim to it - the square base, ring in the middle of the base, shoulder and underside rim are all fully gilded. It really is a stunning example for this period and larger than many one comes across. It is 15.75 inches tall, 9 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep. The base is 5 inches on all sides and the top opening is 5.625 inches in diameter.The vase displays perfectly and is in great shape with the inside top gilding partially missing because it was glued onto a top piece when some idiot drilled it in the past to make it a lamp. So when that was removed it took the gilding with it in spots and was painted a bit to hide it better. Not the worst thing in the world. Off course it has new mounts since it was drilled but they cover the holes and it can be used as a vase if need be. A bit of wear to the gilding along the bottom edge of the base. . One spot of gilding on the underside rim that is discolored from where glue ran down it and affected it a bit. No glue residue left and it might even be polished to get rid of that discoloration but I won't do that. I am making it sound much worse than it is and the piece truly looks amazing when on display!
