Woodgrain Scenic Plate

This is a superb plate made by Nymphenburg in the 18th century. It is handpainted with a woodgrain design also called called trompe-l'oeil all around and a scene in blakc tones in the center meant to look like a piece of paper nailed to the wood background. This type of design was not used very often and only very few makers used it (i.e. Niderviller, Doccia, Royal Vienna and Nymphenburg). The plate is marked with the impressed shield mark as well as an impressed 5 and XVII. The plate is in decent condition with three chips only one of which is really visible from the top with some old yellowed restoration to them underneath. It is 1.25 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
